.30-06 Ammo Deals

Updated October 18, 2026

.30-06 Springfield ammo deals are usually hunting ammunition, sold in small boxes. That changes the math. A 20-round box can look inexpensive next to a bulk case of a smaller caliber and still be a high price per round. Divide only when the listing prints the count. Then decide whether the bullet is the one you meant to hunt with.

Live ammunition deals

Soft points, bonded hunting bullets, and match open-tip bullets are different jobs. A match load on sale is a deal for a rifle you shoot at paper or steel. It is not automatically a deer load. The same is true in reverse, which is the point of the .308 and hunting ammo guide. .30-06 is its own cartridge. It is not .308, even though both are common in bolt guns.

What to read on the box

Bullet weight, bullet type, and round count. A light bullet and a heavy bullet in the same caliber will not share a zero. If you already have a hunting load that prints where you expect, a cheaper unfamiliar bullet is not a deal until you confirm the rifle. Practice ammunition, when a shop offers it, is the box you sight in with. Do not sight in with a load you will not hunt with, and do not hunt with a load you have not shot.

Ammo deals is the live list. 6mm ARC is the newer rifle cartridge people compare when they are shopping a different gun, not a substitute for .30-06.

Questions people ask

Is .30-06 the same as .308?

No. Both are common hunting rounds, and they are not interchangeable. Compare .30-06 listings with other .30-06 listings.

Why do .30-06 boxes look expensive per round?

Hunting ammunition is often sold 20 rounds at a time. Divide by the printed count, and do not compare that box with a bulk case of a smaller caliber.
