SponsoredBest 12 Gauge Ammo Deals
Updated October 17, 2026
Twelve gauge is three shopping trips wearing one caliber name. Target and birdshot loads are what you buy by the flat for clays and practice. Buckshot is a defensive or hunting load with a much higher price per shell. Slugs are another product again. A flat of target loads on sale is not a deal on 00 buck, and a single box of slugs with a high percent off can still be a normal price per shell.
Shell length matters. A 2 3/4 inch target load and a 3 inch magnum are not substitutes. Shot size matters inside birdshot. The retailer's title is the spec. If the title is vague, do not treat the card as a precise load. Our shotgun deals guide is the gun side. Price per round still works on shells. The formula is in the price-per-round guide. It does not care that the "round" is a hull.
Ammo lists every live ammunition markdown. Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore and Bud's Gun Shop both stock shotshells when they put them on sale.

Questions people ask
Are all 12 gauge shells interchangeable?
The gauge matches. The load does not. Birdshot, buckshot, and slugs are different products, and the dram or velocity on the box matters for the gun you are shooting.
What should I match before calling it a deal?
Shell length, shot size, and the round count. A 25-round box of target loads is not the same offer as a 5-round pack of slugs.
